Allen Racing L.L.C. was created to support Connor, Karen, and Bill Allen’s RC car racing endeavors.

Raced at West Coast Raceway this afternoon 2-28-2010. Bill took first in the SCT “B” Main. Karen and Connor took 5th and  6th! Great day racing, and ran into fellow racers Eddie and Kayla too. Results are Here and Here.

In February from the 19th-21st Allen Racing entered the ROAR Region 12 Championships. Folks from all over the region that  includes Hawaii, Nevada, and California came to compete in the all Electric RC off road races.  It was a battle between Connor and Bill. With three qualifying heats to run, Connor won the first two to be the TQ, till the third round, when Bill beat him out, and went on to win the main heat. I suspect the new Tekin speed controller in my car helped. There was a bit of a problem with Connor crossing the timing loop, so the computer did not register 2 of his laps. Everyone in the race agreed that Connor took second, but the official scoring shows him finishing sixth. Karen did well also  finishing her rounds in positions from third place to sixth. Look here for some photos of the event. I did not get any shots of the actual race, since I was a bit busy driving, so the photos are of other races, and our practice time.

Allen racing goes digital! Just upgraded all the race trucks to digital servos, and what a difference. Also trying out the AKA tire inserts to see what the difference is in performance.

Good news is we finally figured out the over heating problem with the Brushless motors.  Seems the Team Associated recommends a 7:1 final drive ratio for the SC10. Novak recommends more like an 11:1 final drive ratio. We can now run 40 minutes of practice and never get over 120 degrees. We will continue to play with this so we can get more performance for races, but not risk melting down motors.
